My Journey from Physics to Full-Time Trader

My name is Tim, I come from a non Finance related background as a Physics graduate who then spent 7 years working professionally in the Automotive sector as a Test Engineer and Business Development Specialist.

I had always been curious about the markets growing up and finally acted on my interest in 2016 as I began to buy stocks and invest the volatile marijuana sector. Originally relying on others for advice on what to buy and when, I had substantial gains lead to significant losses during the boom bust cycles of these speculative markets. I was desperately seeking information on how to navigate the volatility of these stocks on my own and it was during this quest that I stumbled upon the ChartGuys and began learning from them on their YouTube Channel.

Over time I began soaking in all the educational content and lessons to begin acting on my own volition as a trader. As markets continued to change and I wanted to grow further as a trader, I took the next step and officially joined the ChartGuys community over 2 years ago.

My initiation into the trading world wasn't without its challenges. Transitioning from being an investor to an active trader posed hurdles, especially when market dynamics shifted from bullish to bearish. I grappled with ineffective strategies, inadequate risk management, and the struggle to keep abreast of market news impacting my positions. Being a part of TCG brought about a profound transformation in my approach to trading. Since joining, I've transitioned from solely engaging in long swing trading to actively participating in both directions based on multiple timeframe analysis of price action and changing market conditions. I’ve refined my risk management, and no longer have the large downswings I was used to and am developing systems that work in all market environments based on what I’ve learned in the community. The impact on my trading journey has been monumental.

Empowered by the wealth of knowledge gained and continuous support offered, I took a leap of faith and left my full-time job to pursue trading as a career. The educational resources and unwavering support and inspiration from the community bolstered my confidence in pursuing trading as a livelihood.

What makes the ChartGuys community exceptional to me is its comprehensive nature. TCG is a holistic hub that caters to all my trading needs. The amalgamation of community support, educational materials, market updates, live streams, and mentorship has been instrumental in shaping my trading journey. Reflecting on my experiences, I must highlight the value of the Slack group. It has been my go-to resource for staying informed during market hours and engaging with traders of diverse levels of expertise. TCG has truly become an indispensable part of my growth as a full-time trader and I’m grateful for the guidance from countless members through different posts and slack threads.

In conclusion, my transition from a physics background to a full-time trader exemplifies the potential for unconventional career shifts. Through dedication, support, and access to the right resources, I discovered my passion and developed a career in the dynamic world of trading.
